With a curious ear for percussive and bass-driven sounds, IYESHA sculpts a sonic fusion of wonky club edits, global rave, and heavy techno. A stalwart of Leeds’ DIY scene and co-founder of Rat Party, the London-based DJ has made her mark at parties like Opia, Body Movements, and Voight Kampff, as well as international spots like Bossa Nova Civic (NYC) and C12 (Brussels).
Drawing on her North London roots and West African heritage, she blends grime, gqom, and bouyon into high-octane sets. A regular on Rinse FM and NTS, IYESHA is also a resident on Oroko Radio, where she hosts ‘DE:CONSTRUCT’, exploring the heavier sounds of the Black diaspora with industrious flair.
For Radio INTROE, IYESHA steps into New Beginnings with a mix shaped by tension, movement and the thrill of not knowing what comes next.
For her, new beginnings are less about clean slates and more about resilience. They hold that in-between feeling, rebuilding, reframing, and stepping into the unknown with intention. That energy runs through the mix. The selections sit right on the edge of something shifting, moving between moods in a way that keeps the listener slightly off balance.
It’s a feeling IYESHA knows well. One of her most memorable fresh starts was moving back to London after six years in Leeds. She left at 18 for university and returned with a different perspective, carrying years of experience into a city that now felt both familiar and new. Coming home became its own kind of reset, shaped by rebuilding and setting goals with more clarity.
What draws her to new beginnings is exactly what makes them hard: the unpredictability. The not knowing. The sense that everything could change direction at any moment. Daunting, yes, but also full of possibility.
Her current favourite track, Tim Reaper’s “Biopsy,” makes sense in that context, forward-facing, charged, and restless in all the right ways.
For the first chapter of this new series, IYESHA delivers a mix that stays in motion. Nothing settles for too long. That’s the point.
