In the video for “Tarantino,” LISA moves through a hotel carrying a note for the director who gives the song its name. Getting it to him means fighting her way past the people in her path. Watch the video.
The video accompanies PRESS PLAY, her six song EP released on 23 October through LLOUD Co./RCA Records. Conceived around the idea of a film, the project brings “Tarantino” together with “SaWaDiKa,” “V12,” “Cobra,” “Cut U Off” and “Sweat.” Listen to the EP.
“SaWaDiKa” takes its title from a Thai greeting. Its video was filmed in Bangkok and, according to the label, received 70.8 million YouTube views in its first 24 hours. The label also reports that the song debuted at No. 69 on the Billboard Hot 100. Watch “SaWaDiKa.”
LISA performed the song at the MTV VMAs, where she also won Best Pop for the “Dream” video, which stars Kentaro Sakaguchi. Watch the VMA performance.
The release comes ahead of VIVA LA LISA at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in November. The residency runs across six dates: 12, 13, 14, 27, 28 and 29 November. Caesars says the first four announced dates sold out in under 10 minutes, prompting two additional shows.
Her documentary Always Lalisa, directed by Sue Kim, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival before its cinema release on 12 October. It follows her move into solo music, the launch of LLOUD and her solo Coachella debut.
